Reaction Paper on the Deconstruction of Thank You Ma'am

In my own opinion, the selection is a bad choice for me to read, because when we teach a child, it will be in solemn way that the child will not be afraid of us. Just for example, To "trick" a child into being convinced that if you just ask a woman for money or anything that she will give to you is morally wrong, and it is not fair for the boy to go through life having and accepting this state of mind. I disagree with this statement because obviously a child will need help from us and beg us to give them some money in order for them to have the things that they want or need. For me, this kind of teaching for a child is not a trick to them. But when they grow up, we must also teach them not to be dependent on us, for them to become responsible in life.
Well for me, I enjoy reading it even if I disagree with its message to the reader. I enjoy reading it because I'd like to read selections like that. I disagree with it because of the message it contains. I am surprise when it came to this part: "Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones may have seemed like a strong role model for the boy, but truly set a poor example for the boy by convincing him, not, knowingly, but in her sub-conscious, that it is admirable to steal and beg for things that you do not have and want''. Because for me, the true reason why Mrs. Jones has to teach the boy is because she wants the boy to be a good child and stop stealing other things when he is already grown up. Not to teach the boy with a wrong thing especially of stealing and begging for the things which he or she doesn't have. But there is one line in the selection that I agree. It states that: " A very important lesson could be taught within either theme, and in the end it is a fight between two old enemies, good and evil" I believe that good and evil is the oldest enemies we can ever imagine. Because these two enemies are the only characters that we have now in this world. And it is the only reason why there are people who have bad characteristics and other have good characters.
This selection never relate to my own life experience as I can remember. This never relate to my life experience, because I never steal anything in my life, and that my parents has taught me not to steal others' personal things.
Not all kinds of teaching a child is bad. Yes, maybe there are some people who teaches a child to be bad, but not all of us. In fact, we want that a child will grow up in a very nice way and that he/she may know about the hardships and nice things about life.

REFLECTIVE ESSAY

When making this blog, I was really tired. I'm so unlucky this time because our internet at home didn't work. It made me very tired. But at last, it's succesful because I post all my outputs. I feel not to make this blog at all, but since it is a reqiurement in our English III I have to make this. I'm still happy making this blog.

Changes I Want to Make

I'm maybe a student with big dreams and goals in my life. I don't really want changes in my life. BUt since I cannot do something about it, because everything in this world changes, so I have to plan some changes in my life. What is change? Change is a monement to make or become different. For me, we want to change something because you don't like the things around you and the way it happens. Only change will keep us away from boredom. When we change something, we should slow down, because it is not easy for us to change. I'm sure, everyone of us world. But how can I change?
I always think of changing my attitude. There are some of my attitudes that I don't like. For example, I admit that I'm lazy sometimes, especially when I'm still sleepy and tired. I really want to change it, that's why I'm doing my best to change it. Another thing that I want to change is my habit. I want to change my habit in watching television and facing the computer for the whole day.I like also to change my beliefs. Before I believe in superstitions. But now, I only believe in God and His power.
For my nation, when I was still in elementary, I once thought of becoming a president in our country, so that I could change the way we interact with one another, the way we think of our country, and our attitudes. I would also like to change the way other countries treat us Filipinos. But to make it, I have to change myself first. I really want to mchange some laws of our country because as I can see and hear on the news. There are some laws that have no originality. I mean why do we have to copy the laws of the other countries if we can make our own? Likr for example, the law that states that we can't hurt our children(even just a pinch). For me, it's not right,(well except for those parents who really harass and abuse thier children). In that way, how can we discipline our children or the coming generations if we cannot even pinch them just for once. As I have observe nowadays, most children will not listen to thier parents, so words are not enough to discipline our children today.
In our society, I want to change the kind of bonding that we have with my friends because there are times that others will not join the group.
Lastly, I would have many things to change about the world. I want to change the kind of music we have nowadays. I want to change it becasue as wqhat I notice about the music and lyrics of songs, I can really conclude that it is so worldly. I really want to change it from meaningless lyrics to a meaningful one. Then, I want to change the fears of each and every one of us. Just like the one in the movie 2012. Many people say that December 21, 2012 is the end of the world. I keep on saying that it is not true because only God knows what the future holds. I also want ot change the acts of the people. Instead of coming to church on Sundays, they will do first the thing that they like. I think we pewople are so worldlythat we already forget about God.
To be succesful in changing something in our lives, we must have faith in God because His the only one who can do all the changes. We should also make a first step. To make a change for the world we must first do the right changes in ourselves. As what is said in the song of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror"-- If you want to make a change a better world take a look at yourself and make that change." So we should start it by ourselves.

What Christmas Means to Me

Here in our country, we feel the essence of Christmas very early. We already feel the cold breeze of December which reminds us of our friends, relatives and of course, the birth of Jesus Christ. We are excited of our exchange gifts and of the beautiful firework that we see. Well, all these activities are useless if we don't know the true meaning of Christmas. For sure, we already have different meanings for Christmas.
I also have meaning for Christmas. For me, When I hear the word Christmas, I remembered that Jesus was born to save us from our sins. It is also the timeto end all wars, to share our blessings and to show our love to everyone of us.
Jesus was born on Christmas day not just to save us from our sins but also to declare that he really loves us. There's a saying that " To find true joy at Christmas, look for Jesus." This means that if we just let Jesus control our life we will have a beautiful and joyous Christmas.
Another saying tells us that " A wonderful life is yours when you know the Christ of Christmas." It means that we really need to accept Jesus into our lives.
Jesus came to lift our burdens so we can raise our eyes to welcome HIm at Christmas.

My Teacher, My Hero

My Teacher, My Hero
Each and every one of us has a favorite hero. But, what comes to your mind when you hear the word hero? Of course, when we heard about heroes, we usually think of the characters on TV, like Superman, Spiderman and many more. What is a hero for you? What we usually know about heroes today are those who have superpowers and those who are supernatural beings. They can fly or can run as fast as they can. For me, heroes are not only those who have superpowers. To become a hero doesn’t require any supernatural powers. To help or to save someone is enough to be a hero. To die for your country is the greatest sacrifice of a hero. We do have our own life and have our own hero in our life.
I only have three great heroes in life. Well, of course, the first one is God, and then my parents and the third are my teachers. Although my teachers are my third hero, they are all equal when it comes to my heart. I love them both. My teacher is a hero to me because they can teach me right from wrong. They even teach me how to have a positive outlook in life, to be optimistic. They are kind, and help me cope with my problems. They give advices to me which I could use in my everyday life. These are only three of the thousands of characters that my teachers have similar to that of a hero. All those characters that my teachers have will guide me to become a better person, so I like all their qualities. For me, all the teachers are equal because I know they love their jobs and also they love their students.
I have an experience that I will share. This is an experience between me and my teachers. I was in grade, my teacher is very strict. Her name is Mrs. Margarita Tarog. My classmates and I were afraid of her, because every time we make an error or become naughty, she will scold us and let us go to the front and sit on the air with our hands forward. Although, she’s like that to us I can see that deep inside, she has the quality of a hero. She’s kind. She taught us many things, that until now, I can still remember.
We must not take for granted our teachers. They can help us to be more mature. Let us love and also care for our teachers. WE must learn to say thank you to them. Teachers should also love their students. I never forget all my teachers because I love them. All I can say is, my teacher is my hero.

Our Values Today

As we observe in our world today, everything has changed. The way we dress, talk, act and think. We’ve change a lot, but do you consider our values today change? What are the different values that you observed today that some have?
For me, our values today have changed. As we compare our values today to the past generations, there are lots of people in the past who have values. A lot of people today don’t have values. Only few are left to have values such as being respectful, loving, caring, honest, faithful, and kind-hearted and God- fearing. Our values today have changed because people also changed. We try to go with the flow of our environment today. Values also change because it depends to us if we want to have values or not.
Being honest is one of the values that a person may contain. But what are we doing nowadays? Humans are big liars. A lot of people lie. Yes, we cannot avoid to lie especially in a very difficult situation. People used lies as an excuse, but there are some people who are honest.
Our values today are deteriorating. Because of the changes and improvements today, people forget the values that our grandparents or parents teach us.
We must keep our values today for the future generation, that we may pass our values to them and that they will teach it to others so that the world will not be in vain. Our values are the only treasure in our life that we can bring wherever we are.
